Can you tell me how to get to Sesame Street? Yes? It’s located on the right track? Awesome!
At first, I thought it was just me being out of their targeted age range, but then it occurred to me, you should never be too old for Sesame Street. Sesame Street was a family friendly show focused on children learning. In its heyday, Sesame Street could entertain a whole family. So what happened since then? Snuffalufagus stopped being Big Bird’s imaginary friend, Jim Henson passed away, it became a little PC and lost that family fun. Yes, that last part was the clincher. Soon after that, Elmo became a sign of annoyance (due to “Tickle Me Elmo”) and Oscar, the grouch, was too homeless to be a character. No one was asking how to get to the magical street of my youth. Nothing news worthy happened on Sesame Street anymore.
Until now… A few months ago, buzz began to grow about Feist appearing on the show and singing “1, 2, 3, 4″. That episode is shot and waiting to be aired. In fact, since the video of that scene has entered into YouTube world about 2 weeks ago, it’s already gotten close to 400,000 hits.
With that well-known musician getting some attention for this almost forgotten show, Sesame Street’s marketers stepped up even more and released a highlight reel featuring familiar faces for the 39th upcoming season (premiering August 11th).
With Feist’s song, as almost a theme, continuing children friendly content and filled with likable celebrities, Sesame Street might be worth watching again! And who doesn’t love when an old favorite becomes new again? Not to mention, other children programming really sucks.
Oh and by the way, Sesame Street is in Queens (at least it’s filmed there).

Is it that big of a deal? Does Cookie Monster still eat vegetables? Did they cut Elmo’s World when Mr. Noodle died? Wasn’t Beck on the show once? Don’t kids these days watch Nick Jr. and the Disney channel anyway? Maybe I need to do some catching up.
It’s sad that the cookie monster no longer eats his cookies, but instead vegetables. Elmo only refers to himself in the third person, narcissist much? I have to say though, Sesame Street is getting better. They are now on iTunes, with a Spanish version available too, and get this: its free! Whenever my cousin leaves me with her 16 month old to babysit (who screams cookie like the cookie monster whenever he’s hungry), this show is a lifesaver.
