Don’t Buy: Rififi’s Sudden Death
I planned on a Buy: Five Dollar Laughter on Friday night. But as I wound the corner of 1st Ave onto Eleventh, the metal gate over Rififi’s exterior only brought tears. Rumors had been circulating since February that Rififi, the Victorian- and run down-themed comedy club with cheap(er) drinks and no (bad) race jokes, was closing down due to rising rent prices. But when the dust settled, the dust seemed glued down.
But the shit hit the fan last week, with the incredibly bad timing of two days before Friday’s Greg Johnson and Larry Murphy Show.

Waking up with only a tee shirt ringed around my neck and having to wait until it gets dark to force down some eggs, I blame Manhattan. It’s difficult to live hard with the hangover of your increasing prices and lameness.
So you want Qwik Culture, don’t you? That’s where that cheddar cheddar cheeze is. Well I always put the cheap one-liners of standup comedy under Qwik Culture. I guess the city has advanced to focusing on sexxy vibes in its cost-benefit analysis.
Well bye, Manhattan, won’t see you after five anymore.
Unless you’re at Welcome to the Johnsons.
Here’s a completely inaudible video of Eugene Mirman and Leo Allen drinking to the last thirteen minutes on stage:

nobody cares but me.
i don’t care about that… but apparently studio B has been closed down. That’s in Brooklyn but it was an art and performance space that totally rocked.
