Buy Or Don’t Buy

It’s totally hot right now to hate on Katherine Heigl, and I gotta be honest, I’m not breaking the mold here - I, too, feel disproportionate hatred towards the most successful alum of my 8th grade self’s favorite WB show.  She’s an ungrateful hypocrite who rudely dissed the (admittedly bad) writers of her own tv show so she could get herself some publicity.  (She wants to “maintain the integrity” of the Emmys?  The same organization that just nominated Charlie Sheen for “Best Actor”??)  She overacts in everything she’s ever done and good lord does the girl look rough without makeup.

But, since I no longer watch Grey’s Anatomy and don’t plan on seeing her latest shitty romantic comedy, she is not usually high on my radar.  Until last night, when I couldn’t sleep and clicked on some AOL feature about celebrities with clothing lines.

Yeah, that’s right.  Katherine Heigl has a clothing line…of fashion scrubs for women.

Problem No. 1:  Don’t scrubs often get, y’know, BODILY FLUIDS on them?  Isn’t THAT the reason nurses and doctors and dentists don’t wear actual fashionable clothing?  ”With this v-neck top from my Miami collection, the cute amputee in ward 1 will never notice the blood stains from your last patient!”

Problem No. 2:  Isn’t the other point of scrubs their cheapness?  An entire scrubs outfit costs, like, $10.  That’s why people always dress up as doctors for Halloween.  And yet one of these fabulous cropped muumuus costs $25 alone.  If you work in an office, that’s a steal.  If you work in a setting where your clothing is at elevated risk for encountering blood/vomit/urine/etc. etc…not so much.

Problem No. 3:  Katherine Heigl?  Not a real doctor.  Doesn’t wear real scrubs on the show.  Therefore I’m not sure why she’s qualified to design them for actual medical professionals.  At least Mischa Barton really does wear those retarded headbands everywhere she goes.
