Don’t Buy: Election Day Weather

I don’t mind speculating on who will win the election. In fact, keep that going, cause I like the answers. (Woot woot Obama) But what sucks is the speculation going into whether or not the weather will be nice this coming Tuesday. (Get it??)
With headlines like “Is good weather bad news for McCain?” (source) and “US election briefing: Swingin’ in the rain” (source), it’s clear (as opposed to cloudy) that weather-election coverage is a don’t buy. Even the Weather Channel’s website has a featurette for the election! Who are they to speculate on elections? And what non-weather news source or political pundit is authorized speculate on the weather? Does anyone need credentials anymore?!

I have 2 more grievances to air.
1. So the Republicans are praying for rain? Do you know how annoying that is? If it does rain, that does not mean God played his hand, it just means a cold front met up with a humidity front or whatever. It means science happened.
2. All this weather talk being in charge of a whole election, especially in Pennsylvania, reminds me of another holiday celebrated in Pennsylvania. Yes, Groundhog’s Day. We should just let Punxsutawney Phil decide which way PA votes and it can rain or not and only Bill Murray will care.

The fact that some Republicans are admitting (anonymously, but still) that good weather = more people voting = bad for McCain continues to boggle my mind.
