Don’t Buy: My University’s Psychology Department
My school is not exactly known for its psychology program. I don’t know enough about it to call it “bad,” but it’s not a focal point here. And I’m going to wager that this entry in the daily school newsletter is an example of why:
Students Needed for Psychology Study on Alcohol and Sexual Behavior. A study is being conducted researching the connections between casual sexual behavior and alcohol consumption. The study can be completed online and will take about 15-20 minutes. Participants must be 18 or older. You will receive a 0.5 extra credit toward a psychology course (if offered).
Really, AU? This is what you’re doing psychological research on? Haven’t we been pretty clear on the link between booze and sex since the days of the Ancient Greek bacchanalia?

What’s Heracles got to do with all this?
did anyone ever learn about how the fall of rome occurred due to the fact they drank their wine from lead cups? Evidently wine drunk from lead cups would result in mercury poisoning and therefore make men infertile.
maybe that’s why they are conducting the study?
Aha. So that’s the key to reducing unwanted pregnancy - make sure the dudes at the party all drink out of lead cups!
