Welcome to My Milwaukee. The internet is abuzz about this bizarre informational video promoting Wisconsin’s metropolis on the lake. It showcases all the city has to offer: Nightlife, Jobs, Smooth Jazz down at the docks! But a dark twist lurks only a few minutes down your path.
I don’t even play the vidya, but it’s obvious to me there’s a new game hiding somewhere in this campaign. I think they did a great job of introducing it in a way that intrigues. However I’m a little disappointed that it was shot in Manhattan. Milwaukee has a Craigslist. With a video production section!
Details I enjoyed: The strange plant that kept appearing in different places (like the children’s drawings.) References to Black Star. Every building rated for structural integrity. HamBURgers.

ha. it’s just off enough that i think its hilarious despite the fact that it’s…actually trying to make me move to milwaukee??
Ok, searching the Google I came up with this info:
- Blackstar created the Go.D.S.E.E.D., destroyed it and split it up into fragments, which they then buried around Milwaukee.
- The Champion Dynasty Defense Fund was set up by Blackstar to aide in developing other means of protection against the Godseed fragments… because flare guns just don’t always do the trick. Apparently they’re very worried about the continuing problems that Godseed fragments have caused, and deeply regret that they may not be able to stop their spread.
- The ‘fennel’ (what you refer to as the strange plant) does show up repeatedly, and they reference putting it under a bench, and in one of the coloring books it says “THESE BELONG UNDERGROUND. WHERE ARE YOURS?” And in the end song: “Charming yasai, Exquisite ankoku”… charming vegetable, exquisite darkness.
- The ratings for buildings are:
Class C: Rupture Radar
Class G: Rupture Resistant
Class K: Rupture Reductive
Class L: Rupture Rally
In the end credits, someone spray-painted a Class C to look like an O.
- The countdown in the upper right of the official site (http://thisismymilwaukee.com/) ends on NOON est, January 16th
