Don’t Buy: Muxtape’s Reincarnation

So Muxtape is back. As previously reported, muxtape was a site to create mixtapes of any song you uploaded. There were search features! It wasn’t social so it even worked for a hermit like myself. But the RIAA stepped in and ruined everything.
Well, it did put a damper on things. But muxtape is back. But kinda useless. They invited the coolest of cool bands (not really though) to join to test. It’s not good. It’s a myspace without information. It’s last.fm without context. Sure, it’ll function well and it will bring in users and bands, but it’s just not the same. How will my boyfriend find a service to make me a mixtape in time for Valentine’s day?

1 - There’s favtape, which is a perfect recreation and then some of muxtape…just uglier
2 - There’s Opentape for local muxtapes
3 - ur not getting a mixtape for vday
4 - I like the new Muxtape. No, its not the same as before, it merely has the same name and audio functionality. But thats fine. This is better than going to a bands Myspace b/c its quick and simple, and bands CAN add their own design to their pages. It’s better/different than Last.fm because it’s simpler. I dont need to see a ton of sidebars and who is friends with them and what videos and blah blah blah. Some people love that? Then fine, stay on Last.fm. Some people don’t. Alot of people dont and I think it will grow pretty big. And its faster than Grooveshark.
5 - It’s a beta. Practically alpha. Watch for new features such as a search or a save or something to that effect be added later down the line.
