Buy Or Don’t Buy

When it comes to Diablo Cody’s body of work, I’m on the fence.

Juno: Liked, then hated for it’s cutesy and forced dialogue and character non-development and soundtrack

United States of Tara: Liked. Not extremely captivating but had character development

Cody’s red carpet choices: No.

and now we’ve got Jennifer’s Body. Check the trailer and then we’ll discuss.

Okay. Let’s take a look at what we have.

Plot:

A newly possessed cheerleader turns into a killer who specializes in offing her male classmates. Can her best friend put an end to the horror? (source)

I’m a fan of cheesy plots. And in this case, I also like the somewhat spoof-like approach it is taking.

Cast:

Megan Fox: She look pretty unattractive in some parts! As a female, my self-esteem goes up by default!

Amanda Seyfried: Loved her in almost everything she does. I have yet to see her play an extreme nerd, but I’m sure she will also work it.

Adam Brody: Who?

Kyle Gallner: Yes! Another Veronica Mars cast member!

Diablo Cody-isms:

In Juno, it was the quirk overload. In United States of Tara, it was pathetic character overload. And in Jennifer’s Body, will it be sexual innuendo overload? Looks like it….

However, it looks funny, yet serious and there seems to be more postives then negatives based on this R-rated traier.
