Don’t Buy: Legos, The Movie

What is up with this trend to take toys from yesteryear and make them into some hollywood travesty?
First it was Transformers, then GI Joe, and Candy Land and Where’s Waldo is in the mix, but now the clinch pin of childhood toys and memories: LEGOs!
Legos was the only toy that both my brother and I could play with together. He would build, and I would use the people to play house in his creations. And let me tell you, I bet the storylines my 7 year-old self created will be better than whatever Warner Brothers is trying to dream up.
This just sounds painful:
Scribes Dan and Kevin Hageman are penning the script for the family comedy that will mix live action and animation… It’s described as an action adventure set in a Lego world.
Oy! And what prompted this insanity?
Decision to move forward with a Lego movie follows the recent success of “G.I. Joe,” which opened in the top spot at the box office over the weekend for Paramount, which also scored this summer with “Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen.” Both pics are based on Hasbro action figures.
How bad and desperate is Legos and other toy brands that they are willing to throw out image, reputation and my fuzzy memories for a quick buck by making a crappy movie that will sparkle then sputter?

Because rather than innovate companies would rather market ideas that were sold to us as children, re-package them, and make us feel all nostalgic all for the sake of a bottom line.
