Buy: The Concept of Predictable Sequel Titles
I like cheesy things, so it’s no surprise that I love the obnoxious, eyeroll-inducing sequel titles that go beyond sticking “2″ or another number behind it.
This morning I read about a sequel for Marky Mark’s”Four Brothers,” . Guess what they are calling it? “Five Brothers!” Or how about The Chipmunks’ “The Squeakquel?” It’s annoying but kinda fun!
The thing about cheeky, cheesy and/or predictable sequel titles is that the name is usually the best part. And after doing some indepth trend analysis of mine own, it looks like sequels (and adaptations) are only going to get more and more common! So grab your eyeballs and let’s get rolling together.
Here’s a list of some examples of past sequel titles:
- I Still Know What You Did Last Summer (original: I Know What You Did Last Summer)
- Dumb & Dumberer (original: Dumb and Dumber)
- The Mummy Returns (original: The Mummy)
- Staying Alive (original: Saturday Night Fever)
- Rambo (original: First Blood; Rambo: First Blood II)
- Seriously Dude, Where’s My Car? (original: Dude, Where’s My Car?)
- Look Who’s Talking Now (original: Look Who’s Talking)
- Shrek the Third (original: Shrek, Shrek 2)
Did I forget something? How about some potential horrible sequel names? Share what you got.
